| Brilliance
of Dichroic Glass |
| The amazing brilliance of dichroic glass is achieved by vaporizing
metallic oxide onto glass sheets in a controlled vacuum. Multiple
layers of the treated glass create the dazzling colors. The cut and
stacked pieces are fused in a kiln, often several times. Further annealing,
grinding and fire polishing result in beautiful and unique jewelry.
The finish work which provides a maximum brilliance and color reflection
to each piece is a real attention-getter. With this Dichroic Jewelry
you will be amazed at the notice people take of this unusual and dramatic
glass art. |
| About
the Artisan |
 |
Throughout Ron’s college years, he studied Architecture
and Architectural History. Ron has been inspired by the traditional
craftsmanship of the stained glass windows adorning the churches
and cathedrals throughout Europe. He has been working with stained
glass since the late seventies, creating elaborate stained glass
panels replicating the craftsmanship of this ancient art. Ron
has been expanding his knowledge in all phases of the glass
medium by taking specialized courses in glass fusing, lampwork
(beadwork), and glass etching. |
| After several years of creating large stained
glass windows, Ron’s artistic direction has primarily
moved to a new smaller, unique wearable art. He uses multiple
layers of glass, colored, textured and stacked, and then kiln
formed to create the desired shape. Much of his work uses combinations
of other materials, particularly metal, which are often used
to frame, hold and support the glass elements. Without these
limitations he can go beyond normal parameters and create wondrous
illusions, letting the glass speak for it self. When, he starts
a new piece, he considers all of the changing moods of the glass
selected. For him, the work comes alive when the glass changes
color, texture and shape. Because of its uniqueness, each piece
of jewelry has its own magic and appeal. |
